Game timeline

From lobby to last one standing

Each game runs for up to an hour on a brand-new map.

  1. Wait and pick a kit

Choose a kit with /kit <name> or the chest in your hotbar. /spawn teleports you somewhere random to scout. Nobody can be hurt or break blocks yet. Once enough players are online the countdown starts.

  2. The games begin

Everyone is brought to spawn and gets a compass plus their kit items.

  3. Invincibility

Two minutes where nobody can take damage. Spread out, collect mushrooms and wood, and make soup.

  4. Mini-feasts

Small platforms with 4 chests around an enchanting table, announced to the nearest 100 blocks. They hold soup ingredients and Kit Packages that give your starting items back.

  5. The feast is announced

The coordinates are repeated for 5 minutes, then 12 chests of top gear appear around an enchanting table. Use /feast to see where it is. Expect a fight.

  6. Bonus feast

A secret extra feast appears somewhere on the map with no announcement. Keep your eyes open.

  7. Final warning

Five minutes until the pit. Heal up and stock up on soup.

  8. The pit

Everyone still alive is teleported into the pit at the centre of the map to fight to the death.

  9. Game over

If more than one player is somehow left, the winner is decided by kills, then health, hunger and XP. A new game on a new map starts right after.

The forcefield: the map ends at 500 blocks from spawn in every direction. Stay outside it and you'll take damage. There's no diamond ore and no Nether or End, so the feasts are where the best gear is.

Healing

Soup is life

Right-click a soup to heal 3.5 hearts instantly. At full health it fills your hunger instead. Fast souping wins fights, but macros aren't allowed.

Tracking

The compass

Everyone gets a compass when the game starts. Right-click it to point at the nearest player who is more than 25 blocks away, and chat tells you who: Compass pointing at Steve. The needle doesn't follow them, so click again to update it.

Being tracked? Keep moving, use the terrain, and remember that teams show up on the compass too.

Combat

1.8 PvP

Combat works like Minecraft 1.8: no attack cooldown, no sweeping edge and no offhand. Right-click with a sword to block, and fishing rods knock players back. Sword damage and crits use the original server's values:

SwordHitCritical (125%)
Wood2 hearts2.5 hearts
Stone2.5 hearts3 hearts
Iron3 hearts3.5 hearts
Diamond3.5 hearts4 hearts

Damage against an unarmoured player. Armour, Strength and Protection work like 1.8 too.

Dying

When you die

  • You're out. There's no spectating, so a dead teammate can't call out positions. Jump into the next game instead.
  • Logging out mid-fight doesn't save you. You leave an NPC behind for 10 seconds, and if it's killed, you die.
  • Stay away too long and you're eliminated, so a game can't stall.
  • Kit items can't be stored in chests.
Rules
